It is practical and unpretentious and outlines the lives of Artists both famous and less known, Barry Flanagan, Jo Spence, Gillian Ingham, Don McCullin, David Bailey. It talks about the lives and practises of Old Masters an Modern Masters- Tintoretto to Turner, Hockney to Francis Bacon, Cindy Sherman and Alex Prager.

It discusses the daily lives of practising Artists as well as the experiences of working for and being taught by Professional Artists. There is a poem about life at Art School. An extended discussion of the International Art Markets and how all Artists should strive to that make that market into a seller's market. Mental health and mental ill health is discussed with short descriptions of the writings of Carlos Castaneda and RD Laing. In the writing in this books there was a great deal of material on drag King photographs as well writing by married Lesbian couples describing their lives together.
