WHEN I WAS YOUNG.....A true account, of the many memories of the author, starting in the early 1930's and traveling through her teenage years. The stories of her growing up, with her family, during the great depression are very remarkable. Living in southwestern Michigan with Grandma and Grandpa, and the many things that happened while there, are fun to read. Many of the things she writes about are quite amusing. She tells about her memories of making cookies with Grandma in the oven of the old wood cook stove, of their taking walks, and feeding the pigs just to name a few. There is also a description of how her family lived an a farm without electric for seven years. How they struggled doing the washing and ironing of the clothes, and many of other chores that in those days were so hard to do, and this present generation does not even know about. Her thoughts about World War II and how it effected her family are also part of the account. The story of going to the County Fair and what fun she and her sister had with the fifty cents they had for spending money, and how they made it last for the whole week, is quite interesting. Her narrative goes on and on, with one story after the other, describing how it was.....When She Was Young.
