In his first short novel, Juan J. Flores created a fictional story based on a police case that shocked a city in Argentina in 1980.
That year, in the midst of a flood, a man searches for his three brothers and suspects that his cousin may have had something to do with their disappearances.
In that same place, on the banks of the Colonquel stream, in 1829, a group of soldiers massacred an unspecified number of aborigines, most of them women, children and old people.
These two episodes are used by the author to create a story of ghosts and demonic possession...
From the first pages of this short novel, the reader can sense a hatred that has been contained for centuries.
The Colonquel stream runs through the heart of the "country of the devil", a land inhabited by ancient demons. Those waters are contaminated by evil and can only quench the thirst for revenge and death.
The Felder family will soon discover that little Nahuel, who fell into the waters of the Colonquel and was missing for several days, is no longer the same...
