This book deals with the reclamation of liquid and solid waste generated by local industries: a thermal power plant which generates mainly large quantities of coal ash (fly ash (CV), furnace ash (CF)) and a cardboard packaging manufacturing industry which generates around 40m3 of effluent per ton of cardboard produced. The process involves combining coal ash with local marine sands to create a simple, low-cost system for treating this wastewater. The filtered water will be used as process water or for irrigation purposes. The filtration process used has reduced pollutants in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD), 5-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), suspended solids (SS), hydrogen potential (pH) and heavy metals (Arsenic (As), Zinc (Zn) and Cadmium (Cd)) to values that meet Moroccan and Canadian standards.
