Warren's Millionaires Row

Beginning as a path created by Indigenous cultures, Mahoning Avenue or "Millionaires Row" would arguably represent Warren, Ohio, throughout the 19th century more than any other road. Settled by the city's New Englander founders and their immediate descendants, Mahoning Avenue would be dubbed "Millionaires Row." The Lane, Perkins, and Kinsman families; Civil War generals; and even Warren's early football teams playing in cow pastures would all form the story of this northwest section of Warren. While New England roots held strong in the 1800s, industrial growth would lay the seeds for the homes that lined Mahoning Avenue into the 20th century. Today, Mahoning Avenue remains the most historically intact neighborhood in the city and would be recognized by any denizen of early-20th-century Warren.
