«Collage has always been my favorite technique for expressing myself. Even in art school, I used this method, combining it with other techniques such as painting and printmaking. Collage seems to me to be the most faithful way of creating that reflects how the collective unconscious works. You take images and ideas from a vast ancestral archive and reorganize them under a state of Gnosis. It's a state where your mind is immersed in a kind of self-hypnosis, flowing effortlessly in a spiral of inspiration, possessed by something external to you that organizes the images into a discourse that, if you manage to decipher, can surprise you. This state of flow, this "non-action," is what the Taoists call "wu wei," and it's about flowing with the golden ratio through which chaos develops. Collage is undoubtedly the technique that best allows me to flow in this way, and that's why I've always used it, both in my designs and in my videos.» Daniel Rottenbrain is a multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. A singer and guitarist for 20 years in the rock n' roll band "Motorzombis," he is now pursuing his solo musical project. A regular fixture in the Spanish underground, very sociable and with a lively social life, you can find him at the coolest parties in Barcelona and at countercultural festivals focused on film, comics, and collecting, with his stand for "Amazing Monsters," the magazine he's been publishing about horror and B-movies for over 20 years. Very active in the music and film scene thanks to his work as a filmmaker and director, Daniel Rottenbrain has dedicated himself to creating hundreds of music videos for bands of all kinds, including groups such as Def Con Dos, Decibelios, Los Mambo Jambo, Koko Jean & The Tonics, Los Tiki Phantoms, and Motorzombis themselves. His fiction films include "Attack of the Mutant Penis from Space," a worldwide cult film; "Amazing Mask vs. the Supernatural Voodoo Woman"; and "Martians Go Home! The Revenge of Sara Clockwork," starring the famous singer Alaska. All of them can be seen on streaming platforms such as Filmin.
