Vicksburg Is The Key!

Another excellent book in the 28 book Time-Life Civil War series. The "Father of Waters" as Lincoln called the Mississippi River was the vital lifeline for commerce and trade and the Union had to have it to sever the head of the Confederacy. Through bitter and bloody battles along the river the Union eventually regained control of the whole river. General Winfield Scott's "Anaconda Plan" was implemented and the Mississippi River was the main focus. I recommend this book to all those who love Civil War history and to all those who want to learn more about our most tragic war in our country's history.

Another good book from Time-Life

Time-Life is dependable. This installment is readable and has great illustrations. What it lacks in detail, it makes up for in sheer entertainment and overall scope. Good introduction to the topic.
