A historical based fiction story starting in the 1860s.
During the 1860s in Saint Louis, Missouri, a middle age man named Clarence Jackson owned a small family bank. The size of the bank only required Jackson and his two sons to operate it, The sons Walter and Clyde being young men at the time. The threat of being drafted into one side or the other in the civil war as well as hating their jobs, the two boys secretly borrowed money from the bank. With this money and two girlfriends and a covered wagon driver, they managed a difficult trip across the United States and ended up owning a claim in the California gold fields that had been worked to death. Through a complicated chain of events, Walter and Clyde then mined in the Yukon Territory. The borrowed money thought to be stolen became a real problem resulting in being wanted and arrested by the law. With difficulty and ingenuity, the two became successful miners as well as selling stock in their company. From there it was wildcatting the new oil fields in Texas. Their successes were not without problems, but it was rag to riches and the transition was an interesting one with a lot of people involved along the way.
