King of Mercia, he instigated the building of a defensive dyke. 12 centuries later a long distance path was laid out, roughly following the line of Offa's Dyke, and thirty years later still two friends set out to walk it.How difficult could it be, walking from one end of Wales to the other? Loaded down with maps, guide books and global positioning systems they were soon to find out and only 5 minutes after leaving Chepstow were monumentally lost! Soon they were enjoying the scenery, watching the wildlife and overdosing on dried apricots. Staying in haunted English castles and heavenly Welsh guest houses they made their way north.
