Waiting follows the Wright family as they face the outbreak of World War Two. The family are torn apart when their children are evacuated to Wales,

and sweethearts separated with the bombing reaching a crescendo, in what came to be known as The Liverpool Blitz.

Loosely based on Gail's family history, the core of the drama centres around Jessie and Peter Wright, their three children and the extended Wright family.

We see the war through the eyes of those left on the home front in Bootle, Liverpool where everyone is desperately waiting for news of loved ones, whilst

facing the ongoing troubles that war brings.
