Little Hope Perkins is back in Lordsburg as Dr. Miriam Hope Perkins. Greeted by family and friends, her eyes looked for Lazarus. Lazarus had been her best friend since grade school.
Dr. Ephraim Rolf, her partner in the clinic, had demands, but so did she. He'd find out quickly that she didn't jump to any man's commands. Women could not vote, but they could speak and demand. That's where Hope excelled.
Thad Banks, the newest sheriff, started on the wrong footing with Hope. After a gunshot wound brought him into the clinic, she discovers her little brother was part of the chase. Naturally, this set Thad on the defensive, and Hope was not impressed.
Each man had his strengths, and each had his weaknesses. Hope didn't need any of them until trouble came to her home.
