Molly remembers the good times living aboard her family's boat, Emerald Eyes. She remembers how her father would say that dolphins were a sign of good luck. But now the dolphins are gone. And... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Teenager Molly is not only dealing with adolescence, but with guilt about the recent and complicated death of her father. Combine this with a tenuous relationship with her mother and the exotic setting of "Emerald Eyes," the family's houseboat, and you have an interesting and fast-paced story. Author Carole Crowe does a great job of describing life on the sea, detailing nautical equipment and ports of call. The book is written in the "here and now," not really giving the reader the chance to know Molly outside of her grief. But the reader is aware of her dilemmas and feels the excitement and uneasiness that Molly endures as she makes several life changing decisions. Waiting for Dolphins is a good book made unique by its setting.
