Wacky Days - a most useful book

Very interesting book for those not initiated to the world of product or service promotion. I found as I read this thinking of ways I can promote my novels, ways I either didn't know about or wouldn't have thought of otherwise. He recommends promising a benefit or information to subtly or directly promote your own materials. I now know to spend as much time on promotion materials as I did on the novel.
Practical step by step advice. Its Great!

To put it simply, Wacky Days: How To Get Millions of $$$ In Free Publicity By Creating a "Real" Holiday & Other Tactics Used By Media Experts by Tom Peric should be required reading by all marketing directors and publicity managers regardless of what the product or service they are charged with promoting, publicizing, advertising, and selling. Free media is to be preferred over paid advertising not only on the economic grounds of budgets and capital outlay, but also because free publicity is more trusted by the consumer public than "bought & paid for" commercials. Tom Peric is a 25-year journalism veteran who clear provides the reader with an impressive body of succinct "tips, tricks and techniques" to interest media sources for stories thematically appropriate for your marketing efforts; even to the point of creating a recognized holiday that will promote a favorable marketplace awareness for you to do business in. Of special note is how to write "The Money Quote" and how to respond to a reporter's call. Then there are Peric's "Ten Commandments" guaranteeing free publicity! Wacky Days should be on the reference shelf of every professional and the supplemental reading list of every MBA student.
