This paper first looks at climate change in general, how it's going to develop over the next few decades, and the potential impact on our environment. Then, we'll define vulnerability and take a closer look at its different forms and characteristics. We'll also check out general vulnerabilities in Germany in relation to climate change, as well as vulnerabilities of specific landscapes, socio-economic sectors, and other areas. These were selected on the basis of the Climate Change Report of the German Federal Environment Agency (Zebisch et al. 2005) and supplemented by several categories from the report Climate change, impacts and vulnerability in Europe 2012 by the European Environment Agency. Finally, key adaptation strategies and future developments for dealing with climate change are presented and discussed.
