VOLUSIA VOICES is an ambitious project to collect the stories that portray everyday Volusia County residents through both photography and first-person narratives. This is not the tale of movers and shakers, rather that of those on whose shoulders we stand. Gone is the era of handwritten letters and journals saved for future generations. The dynamic attributes of this county are seen in the faces and lives of her residents and come to life through their stories. From the beaches of the east to the ranches of the west; from the farmland of the south to the rich cultural sites of the north, VOLUSIA VOICES explores the county to seek Volusians who are extraordinary -- though they may not know it -- and show the rich diversity and character of this unique area. The goal of VOLUSIA VOICES is to preserve these stories and promote a sense of community through meeting Volusia County residents at work, home and play. Our stories make each of us great, and, by sharing them, we become richer in heart.
