Volume IV: God's Precepts

This fourth book in the series Why Is Life So Hard? explores the wisdom and beauty of God's precepts presented in Psalm 119. This Biblical poem sets forth many benefits of what God has made known about life, about his world, and how it works. In writing it, the psalmist used different words to capture truth. We don't typically talk in terms of precepts but they govern much of our expectations in daily life. The term does carry a sense of prearranged mandates, sometimes expressed as explicit commands. The root of "precepts" associates hands-on oversight with managing the people involved, much as a government has both the authority to protect its citizens, and the responsibility to be mindful of their needs. We can trust the Sovereign of all being to care for those who seek his help when they need it.
