This book is about the world's most widely used open source IP telephony system Asterisk. During this book, we worked on open source software to achieve a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) platform. This is a technology that allows telephone communications from the Internet and more precisely on IP-compatible networks, instead of the traditional PSTN telephone networks, based on Asterisk rich in IP telephony services and easily extensible. Indeed, starting with a study of the context and a theoretical study of the principle of the voice over IP targeted and concise to understand the basic concepts, namely the advantages and disadvantages of the VOIP technology, its architectures and its protocols and techniques, we were able to move to the implementation of the Asterisk server. In parallel we tried to control this broadcast solution with a VoIP Android application.
