I encourage you to get this book if you are preparing for the VCP exam. It will cover about 80% of the topics, but it is not all inclusive, be clear on that. I suggest you print out the exam blueprint (http://mylearn.vmware.com/lcms/mL_faq/1714/VCP3.5Blueprint.PDF) and check off what this book covers, and the seek out material on the gap. The 150 question practive exam that comes with the book is very helpful on assessing where you are.

As you read the book, it's easy to see and appreciate how well the author knows this material -- so well, in fact, that if you can't pass the VCP 310 exam with this book, you probably won't be able to do so with any other study aid.
VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Do you need a test pointer to help you identify the VMware Infrastructure 3 and ESX Server 3.5 knowledge requirements? If you do, then this book is for you! Author Elias Khnaser, has done an outstanding job of writing an exam preparation guide for the VMware certification exam. Khnaser, begins by digging in and talking about virtualization in general, and progresses to a discussion about VMware Infrastructure 3 specifically. Then, the author looks at the prerequisites and different methodologies of installing an ESX Server. The author also covers VMware Infrastructure 3 (VI3) licensing, including ESX Server and VirtualCenter licensing, how the license key functions, and the license server. He continues by discussing all of the components that make up virtual networking and how it facilitates communications for virtual machines. Then, the author discusses the different storage technologies that VMware Infrastructure 3 supports and leaves the vendor selection to your planning phase when you decide to evaluate which solution fits your environment the best. Next, he covers installation of VirtualCenter design of a functional VC inventory, and administration with VC. The author continues by tackling some of the daily operations that administrator faces when working with a VMware infrastructure environment, such as the creation and administration of virtual machines. Then, he covers security in VMware Infrastructure. He continues by covering resource management in a VMware Infrastructure 3 environment. Next, the author focuses primarily on how to monitor your VMware Infrastructure. Finally, he also explores the different options by which you can back up your VMware Infrastructure. This most excellent book reviews what you need to know before you take the test. Perhaps more importantly, this great book uses a variety of teaching and memorization techniques to analyze the exam-related topics.
