In this VB book, you can find whatever you want/need to find. Rob Thayer shows some of his techniques, which ARE sometimes quite helpfull. Basically this book has a lot of content for different sides of Visual Basic programming. Definately for a bit advanced VB 'users'. I give this book 5 because it helped me more than once with little problems like 'MAPI' etc. Really recommend it to any one who is into Visual Basic programming and want to become a skillfull programmer of it.
In a word - Comprehensive

This book goes into detail on about 98% of the important features of VB6, the only lacking parts in my opinion are the parts on Internet capabilities of the language, but that is an entire book itself. I am a professional VB programmer and it is always by my desk at home and at work.
It is a very usefull book for the Intermediate to Advance.

I have found that this book has help me in building applications very quickly using the new features in rad. However the user must first have some knowldge of VB. However it opens the new world of VB6. It also makes references to 3rd party componets. The book is very helpfull in understanding that VB can be usefull in buiding templates which can then be tailored to specific requirements. It goes over ADO, and data base programming, DBGRID, MTS, Internet ect.
Good source for advanced development

This book is an excellent choice for the experienced VB developer that is interested in true RAD development, and in utilizing some of the latest hot technologies. This is an Intermediate-Advanced user level book. It is not an introduction to VB; as such it assumes the reader knows how to program in Visual Basic. Not only does it introduce and describe how to utilize the rich features of the 6.0 development environment, it also introduces and describes how to incorporate hot technologies, such as TAPI, SAPI, MAPI, ADO, Socket programming, ActiveX servers and controls, Win API, DHTML, help systems, and more, into your VB projects using VB 6.0. I found this book to be an invaluable addition to my collection, and refer to it often. The author was easily reached and happy to talk when I had an applications question.
For beginners? Hardly..............

While this book is definitely more of a tutorial than a reference, it is NOT a beginner's book. You have to be pretty adept at VB to handle the examples shown in the book, so intermediate and advanced programmers will find it most useful. And if you're looking for a guide to the new features in VB6, this book is very helpful in that area too. No, it's not a reference, but I don't think it was supposed to be.
