Before 1990, I believed we all lived in a country where all are afforded the freedom to live, work and play with the assurance that we'd be protected from oppression and malicious attacks by both our enemies and or government agencies. I also trusted that our judicial and legislative servants would uphold and enforce the laws that protect the innocent from the criminals in our society, and to make whole, those who've been damaged and victimized by such. I was wrong. After Marrying into the Navajo Tribe, I spent two decades grappling with racial discrimination and ridicule during my endeavor to secure a peaceful home for Shirl and me, but on March 1st, 2008, all that changed when I was attacked and beaten into a coma, then forced to leave the Reservation.
