Book Overview

""Virginia The Old Dominion"" is a comprehensive guidebook to the state of Virginia, written by Frank W. Hutchins. The book covers the history, culture, and attractions of Virginia, from its early colonial days to the present. It includes detailed descriptions of the state's major cities, including Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Norfolk, as well as its many smaller towns and rural areas. The book also covers Virginia's natural beauty, including its parks, beaches, and mountains. In addition, it provides information on Virginia's famous landmarks, such as Monticello, Mount Vernon, and Jamestown. With its detailed maps, photographs, and historical information, ""Virginia The Old Dominion"" is an essential resource for anyone interested in exploring this beautiful and historic state. They seem to have built their fort and their little settlement within it about five hundred feet farther down stream and some distance back from the shore. It was in the form of a triangle and had an area of about an acre. Its entire site has been generally supposed to be washed away, but the recent researches show that such is not the case. A considerable part of it is left and is now safe behind a protecting sea-wall. As, at the time of our visit, nothing marked this remnant of the historic acre, we undertook to locate it. Fortunately, the Confederate fort stands in such position as to help in running the boundaries by the map. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
