In the winter of 1863 - 1864 while the Civil War raged in the east, it is an historical fact that a group of miners and businessmen In Virginia City, Montana Territory formed a Vigilante Committee and began to put Sheriff Henry Plummer's gang of so-called "Innocents" out of business. They hung 27 of them in January and February 1864. Still, there were a lot more than twenty-seven outlaws in the gang; what happened to the others? Undoubtedly some fled the Alder Gulch/Virginia City area, but not all of them.
In September 1867 Glenn Stuart, former Civil War soldier and Texas cowboy arrives at Virginia City to begin a job as Special Agent for the Wells, Fargo Stagecoach Company, and he inadvertently comes up against some of the left-over members of Plummer's gang under the leadership of one of the sheriff's secret lieutenants, now the Boss of a group called "The New Innocents." Glenn is on their hit list and his life is in constant danger - will he survive?
