What begins as an uneasy pairing between a relentlessly optimistic performer and a man who wants to disappear becomes something neither expected: a partnership, a purpose, and a business plan born on commissary napkins and the backs of envelopes.
But they're not alone. Five unseen inmates on the tier function as a Greek chorus, commenting on, challenging, and witnessing everything Kevin and Rob say and do. Radar, the emotional reader who notices what nobody else does. Clicks, the young strategist who understands virality as a system. Chalk, the veteran who has watched every big plan fail. Officer Martinez watches from the edges. Night-shift corrections officer, nine years on Block C. She has seen every kind of inmate and every kind of plan. She bets two hundred dollars on Kevin and Rob. She never tells them why.
As Kevin's release date approaches, the stakes rise. The video that made him famous is dying. Rob's wife offers him a way back to safety, but only if he abandons everything he's building. And the company they've been planning from inside a cell has to survive the most dangerous moment of all: contact with reality.
The Viral Outlaws is a two-act play for five to eight actors, one set, and an audience willing to laugh, lean in, and leave the theater wondering whether two guys with a clipboard and a dream might actually pull it off.
