Velmer Wyx is tired of losing. Six years of plans foiled one after another by Luke "Lucky" Lawson is just too much. And lately, Lucky has been going on the offensive, ransacking Velmer's safe-houses and stashes. Teetering on the edge of capture, Velmer decides to make a radical change and become Valerie, one of those innocent bystanders Lucky can't help but save.

With a perfect disguise, Velmer will worm his way into Lucky's life and tear him down from the inside, and then Velmer will be able to finally, at last, conquer the city. All he has to do is keep Lucky from finding out the truth and not lose himself to his new identity. It's foolproof-but then so were all of Velmer's other plans until that fool appeared.
