From the author of The Obnoxious Jerks, a tale of hardcore gamers who try to keep their town from banning arcades . . .It's 1983, long before the heyday of personal computers and home consoles, so the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a fun book and nicely dates the 80s, like a book version of "The Breakfast Club." (However, since there's no soundtrack, and no one's using valley-speak or anything, it's not hopelessly forever pinned to 1983.) A boy's mother, who doesn't like the amount of time he spends in a local arcade, works with her boyfriend, a city councilman, to ban arcade games from a New Jersey town. He and some other high school students form a group to fight the measure. The characters are original and there is more going on than your typical plot advancing events. It's not made to teach any huge lessons or to tug at your heart, so none of it feels contrived or forced. (If I was supposed to learn something, other than the obvious, I apologize to Mr. Manes.)
