Your past will catch up to you

Former FBI agent, Mosee Love, is asked by Zoe Owens to find her father. Mosee hasn't worked in investigations since he left the FBI five years ago but since he is toying with the idea of opening his own private investigation business, he decides to take her case. Zoe quickly discovers her mother, Emma, wishes she wouldn't stir up old trouble. Mosee finds out trouble and enemies seem to follow Zoe's missing parent, Foster Owens. Even the women who were so in love with him back in the day universally dislike the man. Shortly after finding her dad, he is found dead with a bullet in his chest and Zoe is charged with his murder. Mosee feels obligated to find the real culprit and get her out of jail. What started out as a short investigation is beginning to take up his entire summer. Each lead takes him to more people who don't mind admitting that they would have loved to kill Foster. It seems he used women like they were tissues, discarding them soon after use and he bilked money from the men of his acquaintance. For Foster, there was no such thing as genuine friendship. Karma finally caught up with him. There are a few slow spots in VICIOUS KARMA because there are so many suspects and each suspect is developed into a realistic person. Even with that, the mystery is good and does hold your interest. How could one person alienate so many people? Who was Foster Owens really? These questions keep you turning those pages. The book could have used some serious editing in both grammar and punctuation. There was also a tendency for Allen-Showell to switch from first person to third in the same chapter, which caused confusion about who was really talking. Still, it is a book worth reading. Murder with a twist

I am not a big fan of murder/suspense type books. I prefer seeing them in movies but this book was something special. I enjoyed the escapades of private detective Mosee Love. In the same tradition of Easy Rawlins but with an urban twist. Vicious Karma had you going back and forth with all the suspects of the murders. The obvious is not always the obvious. You could relate to the characters as well as the atmosphere of certain cities in the south. The book only had a few mistakes that did not take away from the story but slowed it up just a little. For instance the character traits of some of the characters were discribed too many times. There some word usage errors(which I call spell check problems) but it did not take away from the storyline. They were minor errors. For a murder/suspense book to grab me it has to be good. In the tradition of the Easy Rawlins private eye books by Walter Mosley I am anxious to read the next Mosee Love adventure. If you are interested in a very good book to read I recommend this one. Congrats to Ms. Asa Allen Showell and hurry with the next installment.

Full of suspense

Asa Allen-Showell's, Vicious Karma, is an intriguing love, murder mystery that is full of suspense. It is a page turner from page one to the very last page. The character's involved in this story are all real depictions of lust, greed, betrayal and every imaginable deceitful trait is portrayed throughout this captivating story. It was impossible for me, putting this book down. The intensity of my curiousity lead me to reading this book in less than a week. Showell weaves a intricate murder mystery, leading the reader straight to the probable causes behind the murder of a man viciously hated by many. I especially loved the main character, Mosey Love. Asa, you must hurry up and put a spin on part II. Please drop this novel soon, as I am anxiously waiting to read your next Mosey Love murder mystery.
