Today had not gone as Lee Goodman had expected. He had expected a quick flight from Norfolk, Virginia, home to D/FW, Texas, but apparently the airline and the weatherman had something else in mind, and now he found himself sidelined at the Little Rock, Arkansas airport. Fortunately for him, the Marines had taught him to adapt and overcome, so he changed his plas and rented a car, but before he had a chance to get going, something caught his attention. A young sailor he had seen back in Norfolk, sitting reading a book. The sight immediately touched his soul. He did not know why, but he knew she was a lost soul returning home, sitting there in the airport, surrounded by her meager possessions, two duffel bags and a cardboard box. He smiled. Fortunately for her, even an old Marine had not forgotten the cardinal rule, no man left behind.
