Sheryl Lee Ralph, who is most known for her work in television, was born on Sunday, December 30, 1956, in Waterbury, Connecticut, in the United States. American actress best known for creating the part of Deena in the Broadway production of Dreamgirls and portraying mother Dee Mitchell in the hit TV show Moesha. Ralph made history by being the first black woman to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 35 years in 2022 for her role as Barbara Howard on the ABC mockumentary comedy Abbott Elementary.
