The Gods haven't walked the earth in millennia, if they ever did.

Evidence of their presence remains only in the Power, a magic gifted to the human monarchy and passed down over generations. In order for the human monarchy to continue, King Alaric must pass the Power to his eldest heir before he dies, but unofficial sources suggest that the humans' claim over the Power is false. Some believe it belongs to the Veseile, one of several races who claim to descend from the Gods themselves.

Prince Malcolm, King Alaric's heir, rushes home from an overseas tourney to claim the throne and the Power, only to discover it has already been stolen by Luelle, a Veseile thief disguised as a servant. Luelle escapes the capital and ventures across the realm, intending to deliver the Power to its true source and restore it to the Veseile people.

Malcolm must recover the Power before her actions destroy the monarchy and spark a civil war between humanity and the God-made races. However, neither of them are aware of the bigger threat that awaits them at the end of their journey.
