Vert-vert

"Vert-Vert" is a satirical poem by French poet Jean-Baptiste-Louis Gresset, first published in 1734. The poem tells the story of a parrot, named Vert-Vert, who lives in a convent and becomes a favorite of the nuns. When Vert-Vert is sent to another convent, he is exposed to the outside world and becomes corrupted by the sailors he encounters. Upon his return, the nuns are shocked by his foul language and crude behavior.

Gresset's poem is a witty and charming satire of convent life and the corrupting influence of the outside world. It remains a popular and enduring work of French literature.
