The content of this book is a collection of selected poems and writings that have been hand selected by the author from a much larger body of work, accumulated over the course of 25 years. These writings span a time period from late teenage years to early forties, so the perspectives of different stages of one's life are on display. The purpose of this work is to inspire the reader to reflect and find a great measure of not only wisdom, but hope and understanding about this life in which we are born. Topics of these poems vary a great deal but are broken down into thematic chapters. In Chapter 1 the primary driving force inspiring these writings is that of the spiritual and the transcendental.. The work plays upon many themes within philosophy and mysticism with a large focus drawn from Eastern philosophy. The second chapter is devoted to poems inspired by love, romance and also heartbreak. This chapter explores the complexities of the highs and lows, joys and pains of relationships. Chapter 3 is meant to not only hopefully inspire change, but to also express outrage. This section addresses the hypocrisies, inequalities, and injustices that exist in the world in which we live. The author's intention is to offer up a mirror to the human soul and the human condition and ask the readers if their own internal void does also stare back.
