Bland drivel – just runs on and on and on.

Mostly a lot of drole background noise that is one of the characters. At least it is not rapping music. Also, it is not constant. But it is distracting. I do not mind most accents, but most of these actors or the characters they play have a nasty speech impediment that requires closed captioning. Even the closed caption person must misspell most words as the actors slur them. Some people think it is supposed to be a Newcastle (Geordie) accent. You could fool me. A few hallmark features: “u” becomes “oo” Bus → boos Cups → coops “r” is pronounced more strongly Not American‑strong, but more than Southern English. “a” shifts Face → fess Take → tek pet (term of endearment — Vera uses this constantly) luv canny (nice, good) howay (come on) gan (go) bairn (child) Oh, no it is one of those run of the mill forensic detective who and how done it programs. This time, the characters have no charisma, more like old drunks. They would not be in that position if they did it for free. Watching the clock, you know when there are misleads in the story and when the closure comes at the same time in each of the 56 episodes. Based on books by crime author Ann Cleeves. If her books are anything like the series, I think I can skip them. There must be some sort of subtle attraction for someone that I am totally overlooking, as I cannot believe it made it past the first season. This thing gives me nightmares.
