Book Overview

Anh was born on April 21st, 100 BC in Bithynia (present-day Turkey) to her mother, an Asian slave, and father, Nicomedes IV, the soon-to-be king. In 80 BC, Anh was given by her father to Julius Caesar who took her to Rome. Soon after, she met the goddess Venus on a Mediterranean beach where Anh was anointed as Venus Anh, goddess of women's rights, and given the sacred seashell inscribed with the Tables of the Venus Anh, a set of rights and duties for women. While preaching these fundamentals in the Roman Forum in 70 BC, a naysayer from the Middle East objected to Venus Anh's message and stabbed her to death. She rose back to life and pursued her lover Caesar, hoping he would marry her, unaware of plans being made by senators for Caesar's murder. An epic poem written in the style of scripture, this tale weaves a mystical and sometimes esoteric journey through topics including women's rights, patriarchy, leadership, sexuality, rape, revenge, slavery, divinity and the abyss. In this illustrated edition, there is one photograph for each of the fifty-five scenes in the poem, along with additional character profile images. A short documentary-style film, "A Journey to Rome - Discovering Venus Anh," is publicly available which includes more information on Rome's special landmarks that are sacred in this story.
