Mexican drug cartel activity has spread to the streets of San Diego.

After the disappearance of a wealthy real estate agent, Jason Cruz hires his friend, private detective Benjamin Carr, to find the woman, whose son attends an elite preschool in the posh La Jolla district. Without knowing the secrets Jason guards, Ben agrees to investigate what Jason calls an "easy money" case.

Ben's long-lost son, whom he's never met, has also disappeared. Ben's girlfriend, crime novelist Rose Kierstien, sets off to locate the young man, even as she flees the torment of her ex-husband and his henchmen.

His search leads him to Mexico, where turmoil awaits. Nothing can prepare him for the events that follow as Ben fights an unknown enemy with seemingly unlimited firepower. Ben must risk not only his own life, but the lives of his loved ones as well, to bring the criminals to justice, find the missing realtor, and protect her son.
