It is numbered train no. 16301 (Towards South, from Shoranur to Trivandrum) and 16302 (From Trivandrum to Shoranur). Venad is one of the most oldest daily Intercity train in Kerala. At first the service was from Ernakulam to Trivandrum, and later it got extended to Shoranur. Venad links through one of the important places and middlemost part of Kerala including Trissur, Alwaye, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kayankulam, Kollam and Trivandrum. It is a day-time Intercity service, departing Trivandrum Central Station daily at 5 a.m. and reaching Shoranur Junction station at 12.45 p.m. It undergoes a reversal of direction at Ernakulam Junction station. While returning, it departs Shoranur Junction station at 14.30 (2.30 p.m.) and arrives at Trivandrum Central Station at 22.10 (10.10 p.m.).
