Great Dictionary - Both Ways!

I originally bought a Velazquez dictionary in 1978 when I was studying at the UAG in Guadalajara. I found it indispensable for not only looking up words in Spanish that I knew in English, but to also understand what was being implied by my Spanish speaking friends. When my son started studying Spanish in high school, I reviewed the book again. I found it to be equally good today as it was in the `70s. I did note in my research that there was one misspelled word attributed to be in the dictionary. This represents an error rate of 0.00001, which I believe is quite acceptable. My son was positively quite surprised with the completeness and approach of the dictionary.

A convenient Spanish dictionary at a reasonable price

I like this dictionary for its word collections. It is not as complete as the 250,000 Velázquez Spanish and English Dictionary. I don't expect that. But the 75,000 entries are enough to cover regular daily uses. I also like the font size. Often pocket dictionaries have the tiny font that you need a magnify glass to read it. The font size on this dictionary is proper. The pronunciation keys on both Spanish and English are always a plus. The conjugation of irregular Spanish verbs is very helpful.

Great Dictionary!

I'm an English major as well as a Spanish major in college and of all the other pocket bilingual dictionaries I've flipped through I found that this one was the best by far. This edition of the Velazquez Spanish and English dictionary is really convenient. Not only is it small in size and easier to carry around (which is totally great for students), it has pronunciation keys in both languages and explains the sounds of each of the words. It spells out the words phonetically so that people who are learning either of the two languages for the first time won't have such a problem reading the words. Plus, it's been updated with new words from the 21st century that would always get me stumped when trying to figure out how to translate them!

The Velazquez Spanish and English Dictionary Pocket Edition has been a really useful tool lately when it comes to my schoolwork. I am double majoring in Spanish and English in university and I could not have asked for a more comprehensive package. Aside from its very affordable price, this dictionary is packed with functional tidbits such as an English grammar summary, a complete list of English and Spanish verb conjugations, as well as having the most up to date entries of any dictionary I have used thus far. I recommend this dictionary for anyone who has any interest in either language, even for those who are just learning Spanish because it allows one to find words quickly. Once the words are found, they are relevant as well as informative. I wish this dictionary had been available much sooner, it would have made my academic career much easier.

Nothing Better

I just received my copy of the dictionary and I am simply amazed. It is what many people have been waiting for, not just because it is a Velazquez Dictionary, it is so poratble and handy. Many people have asked me if I had ever seen a copy they can carry, I always refer them to the Velazquez World Wide - 1594950016, which very durable and user friendly but a tad more expensive. This version is similar in portability on a lot more friendly for the budget conscient. These guys really know their Spanish and English, which is why after so many years they are still in print. Plus they are the only one who has pronunciation in both the Epanish and English sections. My nice is taking spanish and this will be a great gift for back school. A real good buy!!!
