thoughtfully written insight on the evolution of Persian women writers.....

Dr. Milani, author of "Veils and Words," gives us a glimpse into the plight and challenge of female Persian writers, as a revolution and an evolution in literary growth and self expression. We learn about how it was considered a subversive (and even deadly) artistic form for women. This was just as controversial as removing your veil (or hajab), for men to get a glimpse at your beauty. Women writing was synonymous with promiscuity and corruption.
