At the turn of the 20th century, many families who farmed and also fished in Lofoten Islands off the northern coast of Norway were "lured" away from their home land to seek the abundant fishing grounds in Northwest America. Many settled on Vashon Island in a small area called Cove, just a short ferry ride from Seattle, Washington. This narrative focuses on two of those families, Edwards & Jensens, and their long journey; and the Weiding branch and their influence in the halibut industry in Seattle in the early 1900's This is their story, in words and pictures.
