Superb historial novel

I really liked this book, my favorite from Charles Frazier, yes, better than Cold Mountain. Varina is the young wife of Jefferson Davis. The book chronicles the life of a young woman married to an older man who goes into politics, through the chaos and struggles as the Confederacy collapsed. Frazier novels are well researched and deeply personal snapshots of the past.
