VANISHING POINT; or, the SECRET HISTORIES, the second in the new trilogy by Grant Maierhofer, uses the 1971 film and the myth around a Detroit cop who drove the "Black Ghost" Dodge Challenger during nights off to unpack myths of the American desert. This work was begun with the layering and dissembling of several books called Vanishing Point, then blacked out so only fragments show through, and surrounded with fragments from various sources and public domain works. An experiment in "Commonplace Book" writing, VANISHING POINT upends the first work in this trilogy, HOW FEAR CAME, and seeks new ground for contemporary fiction.
