The flow of water is changing again. The Gars Impero collapsed two weeks ago, a bel, a skyborne river along with all of its passengers. It rained upon the unsuspecting Welatian countryside bringing indiscriminate death and destruction. It was a time for mourning now, a time for rebuilding. People needed to make sure the bels were safe. They needed to know this wouldn't happen again. And because of this, for the first time in five cycles, the war had become an afterthought and peace was finally an option again.

Yet, an ocean away, beneath the unknowable waves to the north, another disaster was about to unfold. What was an already questionable research facility a day ago had become a monster-infested maze. And that's why Bet and his latest team of mercenaries were flying out there today. Extermination and rescue, the Guild called it, a standard job for the liars and killers they employ. However, Bet suspects there is more to the Armature than the higher-ups have let on.
