Caxton Does What She's Gotta Do...

Wellington, as usual, thrusts the reader right into the thick of it, starting off with an exciting, tense action sequence and following through with his trademark relentlessness. This third installment puts heroine Laura Caxton through the wringer, both emotional and physical, and her ingenuity and mettle are tested throughout. The prose is taut and engrossing and as ever, Wellington keeps it fresh with tight plotting and excellent pacing. It's a satisfying conclusion to the initial trilogy, (a fourth book is forthcoming)

True vampire story

This is a vampire story that could be plausible. The vampire is a blood thirsty animal. He loses all of his humanity and becomes a blood seeking animal. He is also a killing machine. Truly a excellent adventure and action novel. I was spellbound and could not put the book down and finished it in one setting. That is entertainment pure and simple. Buy this book it does not disappoint.

Best of the series so far

Vampire Zero, the third installment in Wellington's Laura Caxton series of novels, is, I think, the best of the series so far. While the first two, 13 Bullets and 99 Coffins, offered plenty of action and good old-fashioned vampire chewiness, this one, in my opinion, has the most compelling plot. I think it's also the tightest of the three. Caxton has been promoted from State Trooper to Deputy U.S. Marshall and put in charge of the vampire-hunting task force based in Pennsylvania. Luckily, after the events of 99 Coffins, there are only two vampires left in the world. One is so old and decrepit she can't even leave her coffin. The other is a man who was once Caxton's mentor, the man who taught her everything she knows about fighting vampires. It's not just that he's a vampire now that's worrisome, nor the fact that he can anticipate all of Caxton's moves because he taught them to her himself, but rather the fact that he's a vampire zero, intent on spreading the curse and turning others into his kind. In particular, the members of his family. And that's what makes this the best of the series, to me at least. The personal element of the ticking clock plotline elevates this one to the status of a damn fine, and damn fast, read. The Laura Caxton series gets better and better with each book.

Vampire Hunter Turns Evil

This is the third book in a series about Vampires and the humans who hunt them. This story was slow at first but built up to an exciting conclusion. I enjoyed this book especially at the end. Trying not to give anything away, the story becomes worth it so stick with it.

exciting bloody vampire tale

The second battle of Gettysburg (see 99 COFFINS) was won by the humans but at quite a cost. The victory came because the paranormal expert U.S. Marshal Jameson Arkeley gave his life to insure his side won. His apprentice police investigator and vampire fighter Laura Caxton fears the end is not in sight in site of finding the Civil War journal that tells her what happened and the sacrifice of her heroic mentor; she just does not know what comes next. She is proven right as the worst case scenario comes alive. The world's greatest authority on vampires Arkeley was bitten and is now an undead. He knows every move his former student knows because he taught her. Stunned and preferring to hide as she did following her first encounter (see 13 BULLETS), Caxton hates what she must do; she must kill her teacher before he becomes too powerful for anyone to stop, which she believes in her gut is already true. This exciting bloody vampire tale is fast-paced, action-packed, and an incredible in your face (make that neck) twist that will fascinate and stun anyone who read the first two books. The hero (along with Caxton) of 13 BULLETS AND 99 COFFINS is now the most dangerous lethal villain of all, VAMPIRE ZERO. Newcomers may not fully grasp the monumental spin as Caxton hunts her former teacher, the world's foremost authority on the vampire insurgency. Well written in that gruesome monster style, David Wellington provides a strong vampire thriller. Harriet Klausner
