Short Stories from L'Amour

In this collection of nine vintage stories from Louis L'Amour, known as either America's favorite storyteller, or the best selling western author of all time, we are to believe these are stories he wrote sometime in his past. But how can we be sure? There is no publication data listed for any of them, and I find it neglectful on the part of the publisher or the editor who compiled this book not to inform us of where these stories came from. Where they in magazines long ago? Had L'Amour written them long ago, yet they were never published? Or, just how old were they? For many this might not matter, but it does to me. As to the stories themselves, there are typical western fare about cattlemen, gamblers, lawmen and outlaws; and they make for decent reading. Not L'Amour best by no means, but readable.

Valley of the Sun

I have become a great fan of Louis L'Amour. Any and all of his books are a wonderful way to gain a authentic conception of the "old west"

GREAT

Valley of the Sun contains wonderful storys that you can read again and again. They are to the point, sharp and concise. If you have not traveled to Arizonia or New Mexico all you have to do is read this book. Pay close attention to L'Amour's descriptions and you will be able to save your money or you will want to go so bad you can not stand it. The storys in this book are fun and easy to read. I recommend it to any one who likes a good read.

Great atmospheric read.

A most enjoyable ride thru the old west told in nine short stories.Mr. L'Amour puts you right in the scene. You can almost feel the heat of the desert sun, taste the blowing alkali dust, see the Indians on the horizon and touch the hand tooled leather saddles. He places you right in the middle of the action and the word paintings of the Southwest are magnificent. He brings the sunsets to life and allows the reader to visualize the stark beauty of the Arizona/New Mexico deserts. The characters, both good and bad guys, are well sculpted and realistic. They epitomize the hard life that country bred and are easy to admire.Along with Larry McMurtry, Louis L'Amour makes the western a gourmet read.
