Valley of the Skunk is a moving story of identical twin brothers who grew in the Depression era in Ames,Iowa and later served in the military during World War II and Korea. The two survive thanks to their perserverance and their love for each other. As an identical twin myself,I can highly recommend Valley of the Skunk as a rare,non- stereotypical look at what it's like to be a twin.
Touching Drama

Touching story about the lives of twins growing up in Ames, Iowa during the depression and through WWII. I liked the book because I have had a life long fascination with WWII aircraft, pilots, and their stories. The book details a difficult childhood that created an unbreakable bond between the twins. This bond could only be physically broken by the spoils of war. I like that the author did not glorify war but chose to focus on brotherhood, loss, friendship, respect, love, and the dark reality of war. The stories of battle draw you in and leave you reaching for the next page.
