This poem collection samples February and Valentine topics, forms, and moods. Its observations, comments, and stories are variously rhyming and non-rhyming, serious and silly, short and long. Subjects included are: Snow and Ice; Valentine's Day; Moon, Sun, Sky; Life on Ice.These late winter poems are drawn from my personal journal of daily poem-writing, which I have maintained for over a dozen years (after a sudden, life-changing inspiration). Each poem or snippet captures a meaningful remembrance of a particular day, whether that's an adventure, a rumination, or a captivating image. Many of the poems could be read to a child or will appeal to the child in you. Others serve as inspirational commentaries on life and nature; as reminders of participation in family and holiday celebrations; or as fresh perspectives on love and mortality. Some poetry readers are curious to know extra information about the creation of poems they like-for example, when and why was the poem written; what is its hidden message, if any; and how much of it is fact vs. fantasy? In response to this kind of curiosity, I have included an End Notes section in this book that gives the calendar date on which each poem was written, as well as brief notes to amplify or clarify content. Appreciators of amateur (created for love) poetry are rare and wonderful friends to a poet. I look forward to opening or building a relationship with you through this offering of words, hoping it will be one of many similar ones and that you will communicate in return. ~Jo
