On a remote island, a boy named Adolf has gone missing. To escape the monotony, he begins writing the story of his life-a tale that recounts the controversial actions of his parents in a place called Brestland. Adolf's father, Floutin, a schoolteacher who insists on calling himself a philosopher, forms a political party during his retirement and leads a coup. Though he holds onto power for a while, he is eventually overthrown through a conspiracy led by his own wife, Alta, and committed to an asylum. Alta, a radical feminist, seizes leadership of the party but soon meets a similar fate. In the end, Brestland's autonomy falls into the hands of a mafia group. Despite being raised under the philosophical teachings of his father, Adolf's life experiences steer him toward a new worldview, opening up a different path for his future.
