Eighteen years old Joseph Milner from Newport, Rhode Island, enlisted in the United States Navy. Completed submarine training with orders to report aboard the USS Bonefish (SS-223). An electrical injury admitted him to the base hospital. The Bonefish left port and was lost at sea.Re-asigned to the USS Astro (SS-309) Joe began to write his recollections during three search and patrol missions inside the Bay of Toyko.
