Uspto Patent Attorney Examination Study Outline, Mpep 9, Revision 7.2015

In 2013 the author created an outline of MPEP 8.9 and several federal register supplements and used it to pass the USPTO patent attorney examination. This book contains authors outline of the MPEP 9th Edition, Revision 7.2015, for use in preparing for the latest examination. This is not a treatise or book on passing the patent examination but merely a study outline. The outline reflects corrections, revisions, and supplements made by the USPTO in its release of 2530 new pages associated with revision 7.2015 in late 2015. The new release contains the PLTIA amendments and provisions for international design applications. Of critical note in revision 7.2015 is the allowance of an additional 2 month revival period added to the 12 and 6 month benefit claim periods by petition, a provision for filing by reference which allows one to obtain a filing date by merely filing an ADS, a provision for obtaining a filing date in a utility patent without including a claim, a new default provision for the allowance of color drawings in a design application without a petition, and an increase in the length of patent protection for a design patent from 14 to 15 years.
