Use of draining concrete

The present project seeks to design permeable concrete modules for storm drains in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina, scalable to any other city, in order to contribute to the purification of storm water runoff. This is based on its capacity to retain pollutants from the fluid that passes through its internal structure, using it to purify rainwater before it enters the urban drainage system. These modules would act as filters, improving the quality of the effluent, reducing the waste that clogs the system and pollutes the environment. From numerical modeling and computed tomography results, it was possible to contrast the design requirements of the module with respect to the characteristics of the permeable concrete, considering it is possible to materialize them and to advance in future stages on the evaluation of the pollutant reduction capacity of rainwater runoff. In addition, an economic analysis was carried out comparing its costs with metal gratings and an environmental impact study of the proposed proposal.
