Book Overview

Based upon a true story, U.S. Customs: Badge of Dishonor demonstrates one of our country's largest, most powerful federal agencies, out of control at the taxpayer's expense. All Americans should read this book and worry. If the government is capable of doing this to their own federal agents, just imagine what can happen to the average citizen attempting to enter the borders of this country.

"Terrorism could strike the heart of America through our rail system at any time-and our own government has assisted in laying the track. The only way you'll ever know the terrible truth is to read U.S. Customs: Badge of Dishonor. Darlene Catalan's gutsy first-hand account of corruption and abuse within the US Customs Service reveals why America has fallen victim to the evil of drug cartels and terrorist networks. Catalan and her fellow former agents are courageous heroes and have risked much to bring you the truth. After you read the book, I'm sure you'll agree it's time to demand an official investigation of the Customs Service-so be sure and buy an extra copy for your Congressman "
-Rebecca Hagelin, columnist, WorldNetDaily.com

"Read this book U.S. Customs: Badge of Dishonor will frighten, anger, and then energize you to action No honest federal agent should ever have to put up with colossal incompetence and abuse from federal "management." Add high-level corruption, and you have a truly dangerous mix. What are Washington-based US Customs managers doing to earn their salaries? Send help quick to the border states, or risk out of control drug trafficking and tomorrow's terrorist's attack vehicles-the uninspected pressurized railcar "
-Gary Aldrich, former FBI agent and author of Unlimited Access

Very touching and shocking book!

This book was very touching to me. I totally identified with the author in this book. I have gone through similar extreem emotional experiences in my life, and I too had reoccuring dreams that seemed to guide me through them. I wonder if the author of this book ever had her dreams evaluated. I feel it would be helpful to her to gain closure. This Book reminds me of the movies Erin Brokeveich and Traffic. This Book would also make a great movie!!!

Everyone knows that you can't trust the government!

I am a naturalized citizen of the U.S. I came here because of the freedoms that American's were supposed to have. This Customs agency is like the Russian KGB, and American's should do something about this. As I read this diary of the Author, Darlene Catalan, I knew her pain. I am one of the few readers that can truely identify with the frustration of this police lady and her partner. I too, liked how this book was published as a diary/journal. More true stories should be published this way, unchanged and real.

Amazing that Some can still miss the point

I am amazed that some people can read this book, and miss the mark so badly. This book is obviously a journal, taken from the author directly in order to enstill a sense of reality (i.e. from the authors pen to your eyes) to the reader. I am a retired government employee & I definitely got the point, as most of the other reviewers have. The publisher obviously optioned to make no changes in this author's journal, so that the reader would feel that it hasn't been sanitized. This is exactly what I love about this book. It's RAW, gritty, and very well written. I'm glad that the publisher didn't sanitize this story!!!! This took guts! If you want to read a book that is not a true story/ journal, and has perfect spelling, I suggest you read fiction. If you want to read a real, shocking, story chronicled by a real federal agent via a journal, than read this book!

Finally, a woman with some real MOXI!

This is the first book I ever read that was written by a woman, that I absolutely loved. The way that the publisher took a diary and put it straight on the pages of a book, made me feel like I was getting the story straight from Darlene's (the author) mouth. As I read this book the word LOYALTY kept ringing in my ear. The author of this book should be hailed as a hero, because she was loyal to the end in the face of significant adversity which most of us will never face. I, being the macho fire fighter tuff-guy that I am, honestly don't believe that I could have survived this kind of stress and anguish without having punched someone out. I learned alot from the author in this book. YOU SEE, MACHO GUYS CAN LEARN FROM WOMEN!

If you want to get angry at the Government, read this book.

After reading this book, I am very angry at our government that this is allowed to go on. The next time I have to travel out of the country, I'll fear U.S. Customs upon my return. I loved how this book was a journal/diary of the agents feelings and thoughts, as well as a blow by blow of what actually happened. More books should be published like this, the actual words of the author, and not some controlled view of the publisher. I also loved the fact that there are real/actual photos of the agents in action, in the middle of their cases. This book will make a great movie!
